| Charcol offers free mortgage advice to those with poor credit
Charcol.co.uk has decided to offer borrowers with a poor credit history the chance to get tailored mortgage advice for free. In a market that is awash with brokers who charge exorbitant fees, Charcol.co.uk is determined to break what it sees as the vicious circle of debt. Borrowers spend so much on organising a non-standard loan that they are never offered the chance to break the cycle. Charcol.co.uk estimates that the annual lending in this sector is around £30 billion, or approximately 8% of the market, and this is a figure that is growing with the increasing interest rate environment the economy is currently in. Repossessions are already predicted to rise to as high as 55,000 in two years time and unsurprisingly those with a poor credit history account for 70% of the rise.

Brittany Murphy Loses Mind and Potentially Money
Brittany Murphy has quite possibly married a total loser. Us Weekly is reporting that producer/ writer Simon Monjack (FACTORY GIRL) has a very shady past. Murphy married MonJerk after only 4 months of dating and without a prenup! Too bad she is going to need it. MonJerk has a laundry list of offenses including 2 warrants for his arrest for credit-card theft and fraud, an unpaid legal bill for $6,087, and a judgment against him for $502,910 by an investment firm. Oh and he was also jailed earlier this year due to an expired tourist visa and Murphy had to bail him out. Supposedly, MonJerk has been pushing Murphy to marry him before he got deported and he even made her buy her own ring! Ooooh, and to make matters worse, MonJerk had a previous fiancée and had given that woman cubic zirconia.

Credit Piggybacking Scheme Uncovered
(AP) - Only a low credit score stood between Alipio Estruch (pictured, R) and a mortgage to buy a $449,000 Spanish-style house in Weston, Fla., a few miles west of Fort Lauderdale. Instead of spending several years repairing his credit rating, which he said was marred by two forgotten cell phone bills and identity theft, the 37-year-old real estate agent paid $1,800 to an Internet-based company to bump up his score almost overnight. The result was a happy ending for Estruch, but the growing practice is sending shivers through the mortgage industry. Federal regulators are also reviewing the practice. And after being contacted by The Associated Press for this story, Fair Isaac Corp., the developer of the widely used FICO score, said it will change its credit scoring system beginning later this year in a way it contends will end this little-known but potentially high-impact mortgage loan loophole.
