| Computer Game Lets Kids Replay, Rewrite Canadian History
Media firm Bitcasters aimed to change the future of Canadian history today with its launch of HistoriCanada, the world's first Canadian history computer game. An extension of the best-selling computer game Sid Meier's Civilization III?, called the "best strategy game ever created" by Time Magazine, HistoriCanada lets players replay, relive and even rewrite Canadian history. Now Bitcasters plans to give the game away to 100,000 12-18 year olds. "For too many Canadians, our past is a foreign country. By giving young players the visceral experience of replaying history, HistoriCanada could very well be the solution to the 'history deficit' facing Canada today," said Dr. Thomas Axworthy, HistoriCanada co-creator and Chair of the Queen's University Centre for the Study of Democracy.

Zimbabwe: MDC - When Part Equals Whole
THE Sadc resolution on Zimbabwe issued at the end of March has drawn interesting, but instructive, reactions from the MDC and its Western allies. Listening to them talk, one would be forced to recall the phrase, same script different cast. Both have rejected, explicitly and/or implicitly, the entire Sadc resolution, save for the section dealing with South African President Thabo Mbeki's mandate to facilitate dialogue between the Government and the opposition. .
Chaotic Sandro Serves Pasta That'll Make You Weep: Alan Richman
How many places has he been? Tracking Sandro Fioriti -- chef, icon, deity, eccentric -- requires the instincts of a Kremlinologist. ``He fights with owners and he's gone,'' said one such person. ``He's Mary Poppins.'' In New York alone, his spokeswoman says, he's worked at 12 restaurants minimum. She adds, ``I'm guessing more.'' He's so revered that almost half the places where he's cooked have been named for him. The first Sandro's, the second Sandro's, Serafina Sandro and Sandro's in St. Martin. (So that's where he went when he disappeared from New York.) Now there's a new Sandro's, a 50-seat restaurant on the Upper East Side. He has publicly declared his intention of staying put. Do we believe him? There are promises and there is history.
